Guardian Striders: Club Code of Conduct

Read together. Sign together. Run together.

Guardian Striders is built on the R.A.I.S.E. values of American Leadership Academy: Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Service, and Excellence. This Code of Conduct isn’t a list of rules; it’s a description of who Guardian Striders are. Every family agrees to it when they register.

For Students

I will show Respect by…

  • Treating every teammate, coach, and volunteer with kindness, regardless of their pace or ability.
  • Cheering for every runner, including the last one to finish.
  • Listening when a coach or teammate is speaking, without interrupting.
  • Never mocking, teasing, or excluding anyone in this club.

I will show Accountability by…

  • Showing up to practice on time and ready to run.
  • Telling a coach if I am hurt, sick, or struggling. Hiding it only makes things worse.
  • Following through on the commitment I made when I signed up.
  • Accepting responsibility when I make a mistake, and working to make it right.

I will show Integrity by…

  • Running my full intervals, even when no one is watching.
  • Not cutting corners on the course or taking shortcuts during workouts.
  • Being honest about how I’m feeling, with myself and with my coaches.
  • Behaving the same way whether a coach is present or not.

I will show Service by…

  • Looking out for teammates who are struggling and offering encouragement.
  • Running alongside a teammate who needs support, even if I could go faster.
  • Picking up after myself and taking care of shared spaces.
  • Being the kind of teammate I would want to have.

I will pursue Excellence by…

  • Giving my honest best effort at every practice and on race day.
  • Focusing on my own progress, not comparing myself to others.
  • Pushing through discomfort while being honest about real pain.
  • Finishing what I started.

For Parents & Guardians

The adults in our students’ lives shape their experience just as much as the coaches do. We ask parents and guardians to commit to the following:

  • Cheer for all runners, not just your own child. Every student is a Guardian.
  • Avoid coaching from the sidelines during workouts. Trust the coaches and the process.
  • Model the R.A.I.S.E. values in how you speak about the program, the coaches, and other families.
  • Contact the coaching staff directly with concerns, not through your child.
  • Support your child’s attendance. Consistency is how progress is made.
  • On race day, cheer loudly for every single finisher.

By registering, families agree to uphold the Guardian Striders Code of Conduct for the full season.

“We Guard. We Grow. We Go.”
